
The Valves Business Group of L&T has bagged a multi-million dollar order from Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL) for supply of critical valves for an Ultra Mega Power Project in Mundra, Gujarat. CGPL is a part of the Tata Power Company limited, which is one of India’s largest private power companies.
This 4000 MW (5×800 MW) power project is one of the first ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) in India and the first ever order for VBG in UMPP domain. The project site, approx 1000 Hectares is located south of Tunda Wand village in Mundra Taluka, Kutch district of Gujarat.
L&T would supply the entire range of Gate, Globe and Check valves in pressure classes 150 to 3500 for the balance of plant at Mundra. The supply worth multi-million dollar, comprises of 5775 valves including 770 motor operated valves and many are for critical application.
This prestigious order was received from CGPL after a stringent bidding process against stiff competition from other suppliers including multi national companies. According to Mr. S P Rajanish, Senior Deputy General Manager, L&T-VBG “We are honoured and excited on wining this prestigious order from CGPL and we will build a long term relationship with Tata Power and CGPL by adding more value to their business”.
