5 June is observed as World Environment Day to stimulate awareness about environmental issues and enhance public action. In Chennai Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chennai Zone is organizing ‘Green Walk’ on the day (5 June 2010, Saturday) – from Gandhi Statue on the Marina Beach to the Simpson Grounds (opposite Kannaki Statue), between 0700-0830 hrs (Assemblage at Mahatma Gandhi Statue from 0630 hrs).
The walk aims to create an opportunity to promote people’s participation in caring for the environment, and to raise environmental awareness & give a human face to environmental issues. More than 1000 members from various walks of life including corporate professionals, students, senior citizens are expected to participate in this walk.
